The 800 photos problem
If there's something that keeps me awake (besides debugging code at 3 AM) it's seeing how a photographer delivers an 800-photo wedding in an endless list. It's overwhelming for you to organize and, let's be honest, it's overwhelming for your client to find the cake photos among the dancing ones.
That's why this update isn't just a visual improvement; it's a change in the architecture of how we deliver our work.
We've implemented the Folders System for Sessions.
1. Logical organization (Pre-wedding, Ceremony, Party...)
You no longer have to mix apples and oranges. Now you can create logical folders within the same session. This means you can separate the "Ceremony" from the "Cocktail", or the "Portraits" from the "Party".
The best part is we've enabled Drag & Drop between folders: if a photo ended up where it shouldn't, simply drag it to the right place.
How it works
- Activate folder mode - In the images step you'll see a switch
- Create the folders you need - Preparation, Ceremony, Reception, Dance...
- Drag the images - Each photo to its corresponding folder
- Reorder as you like - Folders and photos inside can be moved
You can also upload photos directly to a specific folder. Each folder has its own upload button.
2. Your client will thank you
This is what your client will see: a clean gallery with navigation tabs.
Instead of endless scrolling looking for a specific photo, they can go straight to the section they're interested in. One click on "Ceremony" and there are the altar photos. One click on "Party" and the cake-cutting moment appears.
And yes, we've optimized the loading function so everything works instantly.
3. Sorted selections and PDFs
Has it happened to you that the client selects photos and you get an unsorted list? Not anymore.
We've updated the PDF generator. Now, when you export your client's selections, the PDF will come grouped by folders with clear headers. You'll know exactly which photo corresponds to which moment.
Also in the app itself, when you review the client's selections, you'll see them organized by folder. No more searching through hundreds of thumbnails.
4. Custom cover image
Another detail you asked for: being able to choose which image appears as the session cover.
Now just hover over any image and click the star. That will be the photo that appears in your sessions table and as the header of the client's gallery.
If you don't choose any, we automatically use the first image.
How do I use it?
Simply enter to edit any session and you'll see the new switch for "Organize in folders" in the images step. You can upload photos directly to a specific folder or move the ones you already have.
The sessions you already had continue working the same. Folders are optional, but once you try them... you won't go back.
We keep building
Every update is born from listening to you. This one in particular we'd been cooking for a while because it affected many parts: photo upload, public gallery, selections, PDFs...
We wanted to do it right. And I think we've succeeded.
As always, if you find something weird or have ideas to improve this, write me. I read all messages.
